The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club announces their expanded summer competitive beach duos volleyball program in Cambridge, ON. WireService.ca Press Release (02/15/2018) Cambridge, ON - The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club are pleased to provide the details of their expanded summer competitive beach volleyball duos program. The Scorpions Volleyball Club in 2017 had approximately 425 youth in their various beach volleyball programs and camps. The Scorpions Competitive Youth Beach Duos Volleyball Program for females and males will consist of: 1. The previously announced 7th Annual Indoor Spring "Commit to Beach" Volleyball Training Program for youth born 2007-2000 running in Brantford 10am-noon in late April and early May. For youth considering playing competitive beach for the first time they should attend these sessions. 2. The rebuilding of our courts at 147 Elgin Street, Cambridge with new Olympic grade sand. 3. Our main competitive duos beach program for youth born 2006- 2000 which will consist of:
4. A pilot competitive beach program for those born 2007. It will be 3v3 teams and is a first in Ontario. 5. Hosting Ontario Volleyball Association sanctioned tournaments at Emerald Lake and Grand Bend. 6. The hiring of our coaching staff including present national team member Fiodar Kazhamiaka as technical coordinator. 7. Investing in sand for the courts at Emerald Lake, ON where we host our competitive tournaments. 8. Hosting Canada’s Largest Youth Grass Volleyball Tournament June 30th in Cambridge ON. Scorpions competitive beach player Briana Anton and her partners have had an amazing season. Briana is currently training in Toronto with the provincial beach program. She also won medals in 6 of 8 tournaments she entered with 4 different beach partners. She also won 2 provincial medals with partner Jessica Ennis.

The Scorpions Volleyball Club is pleased to announce that a Scorpions Beach Record has been shattered. The 12U duo of Alex Heinke and Charlee Akehurst have set a new record for most beach medals by a duo in one season. The previous record was 5 medals won in 2015 by Elyssa Trotter and Maddie Mulholland. Heinke and Akehurst won an astonishing 8 medals this summer including a Ontario Volleyball Association Provincial Bronze medal. Their bronze medal win at provincials was indicative of the type of spirit the girls have shown all season. They lost the first set 21-17. They came back to win a barnburner second set 28-26 and then won the 3rd set 15-10. Paul Langan, Founder of Scorpions Volleyball Club states," It is fantastic that a Scorpions beach record was set this season. However to me it is not just the fact that Alex and Charlee shattered the previous record. I watched them play all summer and it is their love of the game and the constant smiles on their faces that I will always remember." Here is the list of medals the girls won.

After the first weekend of the Ontario Volleyball Association Provincial Championships at Ashbridge Bay in Toronto Scorpion duos came home with 1 Gold and 2 Silver medals.
The medalist are: Scorpion Briana Anton and her partner Jessica Ennis won a 18U Division 1, Tier 2 Gold medal. Katie Quigley and Paige Owen won a 13U Championship Division Silver medal and Grace Thomas and Ivory Noble (playing in there first tournament together) captured a Silver medal in the 15U Challenger Division Tier 3. The Scorpions Volleyball Club ended the Ontario Volleyball Association Youth Beach Tour winning an amazing 8 medals in three cities in one weekend!

Canadians destroy dreams of Karell and Quesada (from NORCECA) VARADERO, Cuba, July 15, 2017 – Fiodar Kazhamiaka and Sergey Grabovsky of Canada-B defeated Karell Peña and Daisel Quesada of Cuba-B 2-1 (12-21, 21-17, 15-12) destroying the dreams of the Cuban pair of setting a new record of consecutive titles in the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit. The North Americans, victims in Pool A of Sergio Gonzalez and Nivaldo Diaz of Cuba-A, did not quit in their quest for a semifinal spot while breaking the streak of the local pair, winners of the three crowns disputed on 2017 in Mexico, Cayman Islands an Jamaica.
