The Scorpions Volleyball Club is very proud to announce that Olivia Benzin has made the provincial Team Ontario Beach Progam. Olivia is on Team Ontario Black (18U) and also in Full Time Training Program. She has been working hard towards this goal. She had been training in the High Performance Indoor Beach Program at the Team Canada Downsview facility through the winter. Paul Langan, founder Scorpions Volleyball Club states, " Olivia's hard work and persistence is paying off. It is no surprise to me she has been made the Team Ontario Beach provincial program. Can Akehurst and Heinke Keep Up Their Torrid Medal Pace!The Scorpions Youth Beach Volleyball Club competitive duos once again won 4 medals this past weekend on the beach tour.
On Saturday Scorpions duo of Gemma Piranio and Ella Woolcott won a Silver medal at the 15U beach in Port Stanley. On Sunday, The new duo of Olivia Benzin and Allison Douglas are proving they are the real deal by winning another Gold medal in the Ashbridges Bay U16 Championship Division in Toronto. Calinda Kok and Rita Ramos played up and won silver in 14U at Ashbridge’s Bay. Kok has won two medals with two different partners. Playing up in the 13U Division, Charlee Akehurst and Alex Heinke captured a Silver medal playing in the Premier Division in Toronto. The smile never leaves their face and the medals never leave their neck. Time will tell if they keep up this torid medal pace. Congratulations to all our Scorpions beach duos who played this past weekend. The Scorpions Youth Beach Volleyball Club finished with some impressive result this past weekend for duos in their competitive beach program.
On Saturday at Scorpion's Emerald Lake Tournament Chantel Lapierre and Hanna Chambers won a Silver medal playing up in the 16u Division. Charlotte Spencer and Avery Astorino also won a Silver medal playing up in the 14U division. On Sunday, two Scorpion duos travelled to Toronto and won Gold and Silver medals. New duo Olivia Benzin and Allison Douglas grabbed the Gold medal in the Ashbridges Bay U16 Championship Division. Playing up in the 14U Division, Charlee Akehurst and Alex Heinke continued their medal winning ways from last year by capturing a Silver medal. On Monday nights starting June 4th, the Scorpions club will be offering beach volleyball to continue to strong growth of the boys program.Starting MONDAY June 4th, 2018, the Scorpions Volleyball Club are very proud to announce the continuation of the growth of boys volleyball in the club by offering a 8 week summer session at our outdoord courts at 147 Elgin Street North in Cambridge, Ontario. The sessions will be available for boys born from 2004 and 2007. Boys born September to December 2003 are also welcome. The cost is only $70. 6:30pm start time. To register click HERE. The Scorpions Volleyball Club has approximately four hundred youth involved in their summer beach programs. They have thirty five competitive duos playing on the Ontario Volleyball Association Beach Tour. The tournaments are for males and female ages 11 to 18. The Scorpions Volleyball Club in 2017 had approximately 425 youth in their various beach volleyball programs and camps. The Scorpions Competitive Youth Beach Volleyball Program for females and males born in 2007 will consist of: 1. Potential players for our 11U program shall attend our previously announced 7th Annual Indoor Spring "Commit to Beach" Volleyball Training Program for youth born 2007-2000 running in Brantford 10am-noon in late April and early May to be evaluated. 2. The format is 3v3. This means there are three players on each side of the court competing against each other. An age appropriate ball is used and rules are modified to encourage more rallies and a fun environment. 3. The teams practice twice a week in Cambridge Ontario - Tentative schedule is Tuesday Nights at Shade's Mills Conservation Area and and Wednesday nights at our courts at 147 Elgin Street North. 4. Tournament Locations for the 11U age group are: 05/26 - Emerald Lake ,06/09 - Grand Bend, 06/17 - Emerald Lake, 07/08 - Emerald Lake and 07/22 - Grand Bend 5. Tournaments are open to any teams with players born 2007. You do not have to be a member of the Ontario Volleyball Association or a club to register for them. These tournaments are run by the Scorpions Volleyball Club.
