The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club Inc. has received an Ontario Trillium Foundation Grant to help fund the renovation of six sand volleyball courts.
Wire Service Ca Press Release – Jan.30th, 2020 - Cambridge, ON. - The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club Inc. is one of the largest and fastest growing youth beach volleyball clubs in Ontario. This year, it is anticipated that over 500 youth will register in their outdoor beach volleyball programs. The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club has had a working relationship with Emerald Lake Waterpark to use their sand courts for the last seven years. The courts were in need of significant renovation to bring them up to standard. The club has been a recipient of a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to help partially fund the renovation of six beach volleyball courts at Emerald Lake Waterpark. The renovation of these courts will include the addition of drainage and Olympic grade volleyball sand. Six more courts at Emerald Lake have already been upgraded to Olympic grade volleyball sand. The courts will be built by C.O. Construction of Cambridge. Paul Langan, President of the Scorpions states, "Our youth beach program was at capacity. In order to host youth beach tournaments and to allow more youth to play beach volleyball we wanted to invest in the community. We have had a very positive relationship with Emerald Lake in the past. With this new investment and lease we look forward to being able to host more tournaments and programs for youth in the area. We would like to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation, an Agency of the Government of Ontario, for funding a major part of the renovation of these courts. Investing in healthy activities for youth is paramount to the mandates of our club and the Trillium foundation."
