The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club is very proud to announce their 8th youth competitive beach volleyball season. The Scorpions offer a unique and affordable Competitive Beach Programs for females and males ages born 2007-2001. The heart of the program is giving youth the skills to compete as competitive beach duos at our Scorpions Open Youth Beach Tournaments Competitive Division and other tournaments. The Technical Director of Our Competitive Beach Program is Fiodar Kazhamiaka. Fiodar is currently a member of Canada's National Beach Team. For the first time we will be hosting our own Scorpions Youth Open Beach Volleyball tournaments with Competitive and Recreational Division for the public to enter. Fiodar trains and competes internationally as a member of Canada's national beach volleyball team. Fiodar is also completing his PhD at the University of Waterloo. Fiodar seeks to model and develop intelligent algorithms to design and control cyber-physical systems. Paul Langan, club founder states, " We understand Fiodar's commitment to the National Team and his responsibilities to represent Canada around the world. We are proud of his accomplishments on and off the court. He will bring to the club the latest in training and coaching strategies that can help our beach coaches deliver their training to our beach athletes." The Scorpions beach volleyball program is one of the largest and diverse in Canada for boys and girls ages 8-18. The Scorpions Giants, Level 1, Level 2 and High School Beach programs are the pillars of the club's beach program. This year the program has changed the Level 2 (grade 7/8) will learn how to play competitive beach 2v2 volleyball in a group setting. This will give the players the basic skills to allow the duos to enter Scorpions Beach tournaments in the Recreational Division. Our High School Beach program participants will also have that option. http://scorpionsbeach.ca A truly remarkable competitive beach season was capped off with our beach banquet barbecue. The club captured 16 Gold, 32 Silver, 1 Bronze and 1 Provincial Bronze medal. It was acknowledged at the banquet that Emma Murray-Brezynskie and Laura Fitero and Calinda Kok had break out beach seasons this year. Most Improved Award

Congratulations to all our beach athletes and thanks for a great beach banquet! Last year the Scorpion's Volleyball Club record for most tournament medals in a season was broken by Alex Heinke and Charlee Akehurst. This year Alex and Charlee broke their own record! They have won a total of 9 medals, including 6 gold and 3 silver. Yesterday the duo won their 6th GOLD in 13u premier at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto. Congratulations girls, well deserved. It has been a successful session with two tournaments and 10 weeks of beach volleyball. We have had over 200 youth in the program. Looking forward to seeing everyone this week at the courts and then in September and October for our Indoor season. Registration is open for our indoor fall and winter programs. Here is the link for more information: http://www.scorpionsvolleyball.ca/indoor-programs.html Calinda Kok wins 6 medals with 4 different partners in 3 different age groups on beach volleyball tour so far.Scorpion's Calinda Kok, at the young age of 12, is accomplishing great things on the indoor and beach volleyball courts. As part of the Scorpions 13U girls indoor team she won a provincial Silver medal in Division 1 Tier 2. Playing competitive beach volleyball for the Scorpions, Calinda won her 6th medal this season of the season. She has played in three different age divisions (12U, 13U and 14U) and won medals with four different partners. Here is a summary of her accomplishments this summer so far.
